Purpose

Since 1992, the Petaluma Mothers' Club exists to provide support, information, education, friendship and community to families from
pregnancy to age 5.

Who We Are

Welcome! The Petaluma Mothers' Club is made up of mothers-to-be and mothers with children through age five in Petaluma, California. We provide a supportive community for one another during this stressful yet wonderful time in our lives.

The PMC offers playgroups, monthly meetings, and special family events for support, education and socializing. All the work is done by volunteers. You are invited to participate to whatever extent feels comfortable to you. Our motto is "Take what you need, give what you can."

We don't endorse any single theory or "right" way to parent, but exist to create an atmosphere of support and camaraderie so that each member may find what she needs to grow as a parent. We are a network of families supporting families.

What We Offer

  • PMC Monthly Socials: Monthly socials are times when the PMC gets together to have fun! They are a great way to get to know other moms and their kids. Check either inside the newsletter or the events calendar for current information on when and where we will be gathering next.
  • Playgroups: Nothing is more reassuring than finding out that your playgroup buddies are facing the same issues that you are. Besides helping you find a playgroup, the club provides an indoor playground during the winter months.
  • In a Pinch: Our volunteers provide meals to members who are sick, just home from the hospital, or dealing with a crisis.
  • Newsletter: The PMC newsletter provides a forum each month for exchanging ideas, information, and club news. If you have been home with sick kids all week, it's a great event to find your newsletter in the mail!
  • Shared Interest Groups: Moms who are single, over 40, or from another country; moms who like to sew, walk, or read; moms who want to discuss issues related to the family bed or transracial adoption: whatever your interest, the PMC will help you get a group started.
  • Social Events: The social committee organizes special events to give club members an opportunity to get out and meet other Petaluma families. We have activities like the spring egg hunt and the pumpkin patch potluck for the whole family, as well as a few events just for parents.
  • Resource Guide: This list of local child-care referral centers, parks, preschools, children's stores, and other mom-related services gives members easy access to community resources useful to parents.
  • Parenting Classes: PMC members may attend classes at the Family Education Center free of charge. The FEC is located at 110 Ellis St. For more information, call (707) 762-8835.
  • New Member Socials: The Welcome Women host New Member Socials each month to bring new members together for a morning of tea, coffee, pastries, and good conversation.
  • Kindergym:Kindergym: Members are invited to participate in Kindergym any Wednesday at 11:30 or Fridays at 11:45, for a discounted price of $6 per child (vs. $9 for non-members).
  • E-mail List: Keep up to date on the latest PMC events by being a part of our E-mail list. Members use this list to share advice, discuss issues that are important to families, and to learn more about club and community events. When we receive your membership application, we'll send you an invitation to join the group. You can find out more info on the group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/petalumamothersclub/.
